Utah is a "shall issue" state and is very Second Amendment friendly. Their concealed firearm permit is currently accepted by 31 states through either reciprocity or recognition (see map below), if issued to a non-resident. The application fee for a Utah 5-year permit for first time applicants is $65.00 reduced to $51.00, and renewals are only $15.00.
As Utah BCI Certified Firearm Instructors, Robert McDermott and I co-instruct the Utah course locally, and can also travel to other locations for groups of 25 or more. The course curriculum is specific to Utah (* see note below), and the course takes approximately 4 hours. We provide course materials, applications, FBI fingerprint cards, etc. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. See the Schedule page for course dates, then go to the Register page to pre-register and pay for the course. Seating is offered on a first served basis.
Update: The Florida Department of Licensing has approved our Utah course for Florida non-resident license applicants, plus Utah BCI has pproved our format for a course completion certificate for issuance to students for submission with Florida applications. Students who attend our Utah course will receive both Utah and Florida application packages.
Update: Wisconsin now accepts a Utah concealed firearm permit effective November 1, 2011.
