Concealed Carry Pistol Class
John S. Oswecki, Instructor

NRA Basic Pistol

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, Basic Practical Rocker and brochure, take the Basics of Pistol Shooting Examination, and receive an NRA basic course completion certificate. Students under the age of 21 may participate in this course.

Your Certified Instructors will use the NRA’s Total Participant Involvement instructional methods, and will employ hands-on classroom training aids. All firearms, ammunition, hearing protection and eye protection are provided by the instructors.

Training Compliance - The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course also meets the training requirements for a pistol license in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Florida, New York, etc. A benefit of taking the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course instead is that it includes hands-on live fire training, plus the course satisfies the training requirements of  many other states. New York residents may participate in the live fire training - this is illegal for New York residents 21 or over who attend courses conducted in their home state.

A Massachusetts basic firearm training certificate is required to obtain a Massachusetts license. My co-instructor is certified to issue Massachusetts certificates upon completion of the NRA Basic Pistol course, and provides the required information on licensing, transportation, storage, etc.

Group courses are usually scheduled twice monthly, based upon demand.  Private courses are also available upon request, and are priced accordingly. Pre-registration is required for all courses. See the Schedule page for current dates and payment/registration methods. Contact me if you have any questions.
